Race Regulation

Art. 1: PLACE, DATE AND NATURE OF THE COMPETITION

« Les 20 km de Paris » race is an international road running race with the WORLD ATHLETICS Silver Label. It is a 20 km (single loop) race through the streets of West Paris and the Bois de Boulogne.

The race will take place on Sunday, October 11th, 2020. Departure Start is from at Warsaw Square at 10:00 am. The finish line is at Quai Branly (opposite the Eiffel Tower).

The course of the race in Paris complies with the regulations for road running events (WORLD ATHLETICS and FFA).

Art. 2: THE ORGANIZER

Under the aegis of the Mairie de Paris and with the support of the Paris Police Prefecture, the 42nd edition of Les 20 km de Paris is organized by :

Art. 3: CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

Participation in the event is subject to :

A- Age category

The event is open to runners with or without a licence, from the junior category upwards, born in 2002 or earlier. It is expressly stated that runners participate in the competition under their own and exclusive responsibility.

B- Medical certificate

In accordance with Article 231-2-1 of the Sport Code, participation in this event is subject to compulsory presentation:

– or an Athlé compétition, Athlé entreprise, Athlé option Running, or a Pass’ J’aime Courir issued by the FFA and valid on the date of the event.

Warning: the other licenses issued by the FFA (Santé, Dirigeant and Décuverte) are not accepted;

– or a sports licence valid on the date of the event, issued by an approved federation only (list in the Appendix to these regulations), on which must appear, by all means, the mention of no contraindication to the practice of sport in competition or running (or athletics) in competition;

– or for non-licensed persons, on presentation of a medical certificate, mentioning that there is no contraindication to the practice of running (or athletics) in competition, and issued less than one year before the date of the race. No other document can be accepted as proof of possession of the medical certificate.

Licences issued by the delegating federations, i.e. Olympic and non-Olympic single-sport federations (and in particular Triathlon or Orienteering federations), even if they bear the mention of not contraindicating the practice of the sport in competition or running (or athletics) in competition, will not be accepted.

Foreign athletes, even if they are licence-holders of an WORLD ATHLETICS-affiliated Federation, must provide a medical certificate in French (or accompanied by a translation into French if written in another language).

Warning: runners are asked to send the organisation a copy of their medical certificate, which must mention that they are not contraindicated for running (or athletics) in competition, and to keep the original (it can be used for other events) and, if possible, to carry it with them when collecting their bib in order to settle any disputes that may arise (legibility, expiry date, etc.).

Articles L.231-2 and L.231-3 of the Sport Code and the law of 5 April 2006 on the fight against doping and on the health of athletes require all French or foreign runners to provide proof of their fitness to run in competition, which is justified by a medical certificate.

C- Registration fee

The registration fee which includes the participation in the race, the souvenir t-shirt and the souvenir medal is :

– 39 € for the first 3,000 bibs; – 42 € for the following 3,000 bibs; – 45 € for the next 6,000 bibs; – 49 € for the others.

Specific rates are set up for groups (companies, charities or other associations, clubs, etc…) according to the registration dates of the groups. Contact us for more information.

D- Bib

The athlete is required to wear, the bib number provided by the organisation which must be visible at all times during the race and in its interity

Art. 4: REGISTRATIONS

A- General

Registrations are open as of November 25, 2019. All registrations are definitive and cannot be reimbursed for any reason whatsoever, except for licensed runners, holders of a valid J’aime Courir Annual Pass or a valid J’aime Courir Event Pass.

B- Wheelchair Handisports Athletes

Wheelchair athletes are accepted, except those of the “Handibyke” type considered as cyclists by the Handisport Federation. Wearing a helmet is mandatory. The wheelchair must be equipped with a braking device.

A separate ranking from the general ranking will be established.

C- Standing handisports athletes

Standing Handisport athletes are accepted. A separate ranking from the general ranking will be established.

D- Joëlette

The participation of joëlettes is allowed. They will be initially positioned in a dedicated SAS. The joëlettes will leave in a single wave after the SAS Jaune. As an exception to the FFA’s recommendations, the number of accompanying persons is limited to 8. The person in the joëlette, as well as the accompanying persons will be given an identical bib number. Only the bib of the joëlette will include a chip and will be classified.

E- Cancellation

If you are a licensee of the FFA, holder of a valid Pass Annuel J’aime Courir or Pass Event J’aime Courir, you automatically benefit from a cancellation insurance. The conditions of application of this insurance are described in the documents provided by the intermediary offering this insurance (here the FFA). Where applicable, requests for the application of the cancellation insurance are to be sent exclusively to the intermediary offering this insurance.

Art. 5: DISTRIBUTION OF RACE BIBS

Bibs can be collected, on presentation of an identity document and the voucher, at the event village on Friday October 9th 2020 from 10.00am to 8.00pm and on Saturday October 10th 2020 from 10.00am  to 7.00pm. When the medical certificate or the license have not yet been provided and validated, you will have to present the documents when you pick up your bib. A competitor’s bib may be given to a third party on presentation of a copy of the competitor’s identity document.

Attention: No bib will be distributed on Sunday, October 11th, 2020.

Bib transfer

All commitments are personal and definitive. No transfer of registration is allowed for any reason whatsoever except on the official bib resale platform.duly accredited by Les 20km de Paris. Any person returning their bib, even free of charge, to a third party will be held responsible in the event of an accident occurring or caused by the latter during the event. The organization declines all responsibility in case of an accident in this type of situation.

Art. 6: SPORTS RULES

The competition takes place according to the sporting rules of the FFA.

A- Jury

The jury is composed of FFA officials, under the authority of one or more official road running referees. Any complaints can be made in accordance with federal procedures. Their decisions are final.

B- Aid Providing assistance to competitors

Providing assistance to competitors, including providing food outside drink and feed stations, is prohibited.

C- Tracker

No followers are accepted, under penalty of disqualification.

D- Time limits

Participants have a maximum running time of 2h50 to to run the race from their starting time. After the official sweep vehicle passes, the competitors must comply with the traffic rules of the Highway Code.

E- Timing

The timing system used is the B-Tag (Chronotrack): a chip, in the form of a strip, is stuck to the bib. Intermediate timekeeping is carried out every 5 kilometres. For your time to be validated at the finish, you must run the entire race on the roadway and have validated your time on all intermediate timings.

All entrants will be given a bib with an electronic chip (strip stuck behind each bib) which will be automatically initialized at the start line and will serve as a race check every 5 km. A competitor who does not use the roadway will not be classified at the end.

F- Headphones

Audio headsets are allowed under the responsibility of the runner. However, for obvious safety reasons, the organisation strongly advises against the use of earphones that may interfere with listening to one’s own environment during the race.

Art. 7: INSURANCE

The organizer takes out liability insurance covering  its own public liability as well as that of its employees. Proof may be provided to any participant upon request. This guarantee will intervene in addition to or in the absence of other insurance that may be applicable elsewhere.

Unless they have waived it, FFA-licensed athletes are covered by “personal injury” insurance. It is strongly recommended that other participants take out individual accident insurance, covering personal injury to which their sporting practice may expose them (art. L. 321 of the Sporting Code).

The organizer declines all responsibility in the event of damage (theft, breakage, loss, etc.) to the participants personal property, even if it is in his custody. Participants will not be able to claim against the organizer for any damage caused to their equipment. It is up to each individual to take out insurance to cover these risks.

Art. 8: RACE RANKING AND REWARDS

A- Ranking

At least one male and one female scratch ranking will be established.

There is a ranking for each category defined by the FFA. Runners will receive their scratch ranking and their classification in their category. In addition to these official categories, a classification according to the international categories defined by 5-year increments will be indicated on the race diploma.

There is a separate ranking for handisport athletes: Wheelchair and Stand Up.

B- Awards

A cup will be given to the first 3 of the scratch ranking in the “Men” and “Women” categories. A cup will be awarded to the first 3 winners of the Wheelchair Handisports competition. All arrivals will be awarded a souvenir medal and a diploma to download.

C- Performance reward

The price money for Performance Rewards is as follows:

E- Publication of results

The results are published on the « 20 km de Paris » website. Provisional results on Sunday afternoon (race day) and final and official results within a week.

In accordance with the law known as the “Informatique et Libertés” law, participants may oppose the publication of their results on these sites for legitimate reasons (for the FFA, make a request directly to the email address cil@athle.fr).

Art. 9:FEED AND DRINK

There are three Feed and Drink stations along the course, set up approximately every 5 kilometres, and one station at the finish.

Art. 10: SAFETY AND MEDICAL

Road safety and medical service is adapted to the number of competitors and to the duration of the race are.  The medical team  may decide to withdraw a competitor from the race for medical reasons.

A- Streets used

The competition takes place partly on streets open to traffic, competitors must use the right side of the road.

B- Safety of competitors

The Rescue service is provided jointly by the Protection Civile Paris Seine and the SAMU. This arrangement is subject to the approval of the Paris Police Prefecture.

C- Recovery area

A recovery area with physiotherapists and chiropodists is located at the Emile Anthoine stadium.

Art. 11: EXCLUSION

Les 20 km de Paris event is forbidden to all wheeled vehicles, except those of the organization or accepted by it, as well as to animals.

Art. 12:  RIGHTS TO IMAGE

By registering for Les 20 km de Paris, you expressly authorise the 20 km de Paris Club association and its assignees (such as partners and media) to use or have used or reproduced or have reproduced your name, image, voice and sporting performance in the context of the sporting event for any direct or derivative use of the event and this, on any medium, throughout the world, by all means known or unknown to date, and for the entire duration of the protection currently granted to such direct or derived operations by the legislative or regulatory provisions, judicial and/or arbitral decisions of any country and by current or future international conventions, including any extensions that may be made to this duration.

Art. 13: PERSONAL DATA

Collected data

By registering for « Les 20 km de Paris », you are required to provide a certain amount of data and information, in particular when you register. This data allows you to be identified, directly or indirectly, and can be considered as personal data within the meaning of the applicable regulations on the protection of personal data.

In general, the personal data communicated by the participants are intended for to be used by the personnel authorised by the Association Club des 20km de Paris who may be members of the Association or a service provider company responsible for processing this data (timekeeper, bib printer, registration manager, communication agency, etc.).

The Association Club des 20km de Paris collects this data, for specific purposes, in accordance with the applicable legal provisions and with your consent, and in particular for the purposes of :

Allow the creation, management and access to your account ;

Provide the information and chosen options

Enable the processing, follow-up and management of your registrations for the different editions of Les 20 km de Paris;

Fighting fraud ;

To allow the management, modification and improvement of the services offered by Les 20 km de paris Club Association ;

Send e-mails or messages to provide you with any useful information such as order confirmation, updates, newsletters from 20km de Paris,…

Send e-mails or SMS to provide you with information, announcements and updates about Les 20 km de Paris;

Collect information, in particular through surveys, polls or questionnaires that we will communicate to you.

To ensure compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory provisions, particularly in terms of not contraindicating medical participation in Les 20km de Paris;

Send e-mails or SMS to inform you of other partner events that may be of interest to you

Enable the marketing management and promotion of the services we offer;

Send e-mails or SMS messages to communicate promotional offers, advertisements or other commercial communications from partners within Les 20 km de Paris.

Organize lotteries and contests and allow you to register and participate in them,

To Inform you of your results, to communicate your diplomas to you;

Permit any other purpose specified at the time of Data collection.

Results :

At the end of Les 20 km de Paris, information related to your sporting performance (including your result, photos and videos, your progress on the course) is published on our website www.20kmparis.com . Your sports results will also be published on the website of the French Athletics Federation. If you wish to object to the publication of your result, you must expressly inform us at resultats@20kmparis.com as well as the FFA at the following e-mail address: dpo@athle.fr . Your results associated with your first name, last name and region are also likely to be picked up by any media.

Monitoring your race on the course

By choosing to take part in Les 20 km of Paris, participants acknowledge that their progress on the course will be accessible to any user who has downloaded the “Chrono Course” application as well as on the Event site, the timing chips enabling them to detect your passages every five (5) km approximately. You acknowledge that any user of the application or the Internet is likely to be able to follow you, by entering your surname and/or first name and/or race number.

Opposition

If you wish to oppose such publications for a legitimate reason, you must imperatively communicate this decision to the Association Club des 20km de Paris at rgpd@20kmparis.com, prior to the event and no later than thirty (30) days before the event so that appropriate measures can be taken.

Data Sharing

The Association Club des 20km de Paris may share data about you with third parties. If you have ordered products or services from our partners through us, the Association Club des 20 km de Paris may share your data with the partners concerned in order to satisfy your request. These third parties may send you communications, correspondence, emails.

When you registered, if you ordered an option from a Partner of Les 20 km de Paris that we offer (a product or a service for example), these partners are likely to send you communications, correspondence or emails.

Finally, the Association Club des 20 km de Paris may share the Data you submit with its suppliers, service providers, subcontractors or members of the association who perform certain tasks on its behalf. For example, these suppliers can be the registration manager, the timekeeper, the bib manufacturer, the company in charge of medical assistance. These partners have agreed to maintain the confidentiality, security and integrity of the data.

The data is hosted in France.

By telephone call and/or post or by e-mail or SMS, you may receive promotional offers from our commercial partners provided that you have ticked the box provided for this purpose when placing your order. The data is never transferred or sold by the Association Club des 20 km de Paris to third parties.

However, you may forbid the processing of your data at any time under the conditions set out below.

Pursuant to the law of 6 January 1978 relating to data processing, data files and liberties, as amended, you have the right to question, access, rectify and oppose on legitimate grounds all data concerning you, as well as the right to object commercial prospecting by the Association Club des 20 km de Paris and/or its commercial partners. You also have the right to formulate specific or general guidelines concerning the storage, deletion and communication of your post-mortem data.

Your requests will be taken into account as soon as possible.

Art. 14: CODE OF GOOD CONDUCT

The competitor undertakes to honour not to anticipate the start, to cover the full distance before crossing the finish line and to ensure that his number, placed on his chest, is fully legible during the race.

Art. 15: ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Any abandonment of equipment, any throwing of waste out of the places provided for this purpose will result in the disqualification of the competitor for misconduct

Art. 16: FORCE MAJEURE

In case of force majeure, the organizer may terminate the event at any time. Participants will be notified by all possible means, they will then have to comply strictly with the organization’s guidelines. Failure to comply with these instructions will de facto result in the end of the organizer’s liability. The participant shall not be entitled to any reimbursement or compensation in this respect.

Art. 17: CANCELLATION

The organizer reserves the right to cancel the event either at the request of the administrative authority or in case of force majeure. No compensation may be paid in this respect.

Article 18 – DISPUTE

Any complaint, with a view to an amicable settlement, must be made in writing to the organizer at the following address: Association Club des 20 km de Paris – 16 bis, avenue Prieur de la Côte d’Or – CS 40300 – 94114 Arcueil Cedex. This request must be accompanied by a stamped envelope for the reply, prepared with the name and address of the addressee, within 30 days after the race. Any dispute must be brought before the competent court.

Art. 19: ACCEPTANCE OF THIS REGULATION

The competitor unconditionally accepts these rules.
